It's happening…literally right now.
As this email lands in your mail box, it’s Saturday morning, we're gathering for a cleanup, and honestly I can't stop thinking about everything that's actually inside that one sentence.
Susie wrote this month's reflection, and when I read it I just sat with it for a while before I could even respond to her. Her friend is coming to lead restorative yoga and a friend of a friend, who up until this morning I had never even met in person, who started her own little business making household goods out of recycled materials, is coming to teach all of us how to macramé using recycled paper.
This is the happening, the coming together, the learning together, the growing together.
I don't think we're just trying to create spaces for people to be. I think we're creating spaces for people to continually become and that only happens when people keep showing up with the pieces we don't have on our own. The gift of words, a gift to lead yoga, a gift of hands showing us how something thrown away can become something you'd actually want to keep, the gift of iced coffee to share, an EZup setup, and the continuous gift of people saying yes in so many ways.
Here's a small piece of what Susie wrote, in Spanish and in English, with the rest waiting for you in the images below.
"Nuestra vida, como el mar, tiene mareas... no todos nuestros pensamientos necesitan una solución."
"Our life, like the sea, has tides... not all of our thoughts need a solution."
She calls it shifting from "¿y si...?" to "¿incluso si...?" From what if, to even if. Not fighting the fear, just refusing to let it be the only question left in the room.
I wish you could be here this Saturday morning to be part of it. I am so thankful for this small and mighty tool of connection I do get to share with you. Please let me know what stands out to you, please feel free to pass this reflection along, please know that even if you just get this far, I am thankful you’re here.
The happenings seem to be flowing so I’ll have more for you soon.
