After sharing more about the heart behind this internship model and having our more official onboard night last night I wanted to finally introduce you a little more personally to the two people stepping into this season alongside me, Susie & Haven!
One of the things that has already felt so meaningful is how naturally both of them reflect the heart of what we’re hoping to build through this space. They each bring such different gifts, perspectives, and ways of caring for people, and it’s been really special watching those things already begin.
MEET SUSIE
Susie will be coming alongside the monthly community events this summer while also helping support and expand the Spanish resources we’re creating through The Giving Gifts. As someone born and raised in Ensenada, she brings such a genuine care for the local community along with a deep value for connection and inclusion. Susie has such a calming and welcoming presence to her that naturally helps people feel comfortable and seen, and I’m really excited for the ways she’ll continue helping bridge community, language, and care throughout this work.
MEET HAVEN
Haven will be working more closely alongside the Tus Olas program, helping support and facilitate workshops while bringing so much creativity, intentionality, and curiosity into the process. Haven has such a thoughtful way of engaging with people and I’ve already loved seeing the way she approaches community with both openness and care. From creativity and sewing to reflection and workshop development, she brings such a unique mix of gifts into this space that aligns so beautifully with the direction we hope to see Tus Olas grow!
I genuinely could not be more thankful to be learning alongside them this summer. As we shared our stories around a table last night and then sat together in the living room here at The Casita, it already became so evident what a gift this season is going to be.
One of my favorite parts of hearing people’s stories is noticing the threads that weave themselves throughout our lives. The similarities, the shared experiences, the questions we carry, the ways certain moments shape us differently while still connecting us. Every time I experience that kind of connection, I am reminded that we are part of something much greater than ourselves.
I’m really excited for you all to continue getting to know Susie and Haven more throughout the months ahead!
